Merino Sheep’s Wool Elbow Protector

1" Medical Wool Pile • Fully Adjustable • Washable to Hospital Standards

Our Merino Sheep’s Wool Elbow Protector is designed for comfort, protection, and ease of use. It opens completely for effortless placement on the arm and secures with two adjustable Velcro straps, allowing a customized fit for any arm size. The soft 1" medical‑density wool pile cushions the elbow, reduces pressure, and helps maintain healthy skin integrity.

Wool is especially beneficial for individuals with restricted mobility, those recovering from injury, or anyone needing gentle, breathable protection around the elbow joint.

All Soul Comfort health and wellness products are made with 1" pile medical‑density Merino sheep’s wool fabric, washable to 70°C, and compliant with Canadian National Infection Control Guidelines.

Why Wool Supports Skin Health

Pressure Relief & Cushioning

The natural loft of wool redistributes pressure, helping prevent skin breakdown and discomfort.

Temperature Regulation

Wool maintains a stable microclimate, warm when needed, cool when needed, reducing sweating and irritation.

Moisture Absorption

Wool absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture, keeping the skin dry and reducing the risk of maceration.

Antimicrobial & Antibacterial

Lanolin in wool naturally discourages bacteria, mold, and fungus.

Sheepskin vs. Sheep Wool Fabric

  • Sheepskin = hide + wool attached

  • Sheep wool fabric = wool fibre shorn from the sheep, knitted into a backing

  • Our products use sheep wool fabric, making them washable, breathable, and humane

What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?

Our medical wool fabric is made from:

  • 100% wool fibre (shorn from sheep)

  • Knitted into a nylon grid for strength and shape retention

  • Stabilized with a medical‑grade acrylic compound

This creates a durable, washable material that looks and feels like sheepskin, without the hide.

General Care

  • Expect light shedding at first, this is normal

  • Air‑fluff in the dryer (no heat) for 5 minutes to remove loose fibres

  • Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight

  • Wool may “clump” over time, this does not affect performance

  • Brush with a metal brush after washing if you prefer a fluffier look

With proper care, your wool products will last many, many years.

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

  • Use wool soap containing lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)

  • Air dry recommended

  • You may tumble dry without heat to fluff

  • Remove at 85% dry, remaining moisture will dissipate quickly

  • Spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and disinfecting soap

  • Do not bleach

Wool is naturally antimicrobial and does not require frequent laundering. To freshen, hang outside in moist air, out of direct sunlight.

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
