Medical Sheep Wool Seating Mat

950 g Medical Wool • Coccyx Protection • Moisture Control • Non‑Slip Backing

This Medical Sheep Wool Seating Mat provides exceptional cushioning for bony butts, coccyx sensitivity, and anyone who experiences discomfort when sitting for extended periods. Made from 100% medical‑grade 950 g sheep wool fabric, it evenly distributes pressure, reduces strain, and helps prevent pressure‑related pain and skin breakdown.

Wool’s natural ability to regulate temperature and absorb moisture keeps the seating area dry, cool, and hygienic, making this pad ideal for wheelchairs, recliners, office chairs, and car seats. A non‑slip rubber backing ensures the mat stays securely in place.

Available in Natural White, in 19" × 19" or 22" × 22".

Why Choose a Medical Sheep Wool Seating Mat

Pressure Relief & Coccyx Support

The dense 950 g wool pile redistributes weight evenly, reducing pressure points and helping prevent discomfort, aches, and long‑term strain.

Moisture Absorption

Wool absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture and releases it into the air, preventing dampness and protecting vulnerable skin.

Temperature Regulation

Wool maintains a stable microclimate, warm in winter, cool in summer, keeping muscles relaxed and reducing stiffness.

Antimicrobial & Antibacterial

Wool naturally resists bacteria, mold, and fungus, creating a healthier seating environment.

Breathability

Unlike synthetic surfaces that trap heat and moisture, wool allows air to circulate, preventing sweat buildup and irritation.

Natural Materials for Sensitive Skin

Wool and hemp fibres are breathable, moisture‑wicking, and naturally resistant to bacteria, ideal for long sitting periods.

Sheepskin vs. Sheep Wool Fabric

  • Sheepskin = hide + wool attached

  • Sheep wool fabric = wool fibre shorn from the sheep, knitted into a backing

  • Our seating mats use sheep wool fabric, making them washable, breathable, and humane

What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?

Our medical wool fabric is made from:

  • 100% wool fibre (shorn from sheep)

  • Knitted into a nylon grid for strength and shape retention

  • Stabilized with a medical‑grade acrylic compound for washability

Why this matters:

  • The nylon grid prevents fraying and maintains shape

  • The acrylic stabilizer (developed in Germany) allows full washability to 70°C

  • No allergies have been reported in decades of use

  • The body lies on pure wool fibre, not hide

  • Meets Canadian Infection Control Standards (IPAC)

General Care

  • Expect light shedding at first; normal for new wool

  • Air‑fluff in dryer (no heat) for 5 minutes to remove loose fibres

  • Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight

  • Wool may “clump” over time ,this does not affect performance

  • Brush with a metal brush after washing if you prefer a fluffier look

With proper care, your wool products will last many, many years.

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

  • Use wool soap containing lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)

  • Air dry recommended

  • You may tumble dry without heat to fluff

  • Remove at 85% dry, remaining moisture dissipates quickly

  • Spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and disinfecting soap

  • Do not bleach

Wool is naturally antimicrobial and does not require frequent laundering. To freshen, hang outside in moist air, out of direct sunlight.

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
