Our sheep's wool fabric pet beds, 1-inch wool length, are made with 100% Sheep's Wool fabric on the top, with a 100% cotton canvas backing and a removable wool-filled pillow for additional comfort. This product is excellent for pets of all ages. Wool provides natural cushioning for comfort and protection. Wool is also a natural insulator, meaning it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Wool’s natural structure promotes air circulation and naturally deters bacterial growth. Wool is naturally flame-resistant; it does not melt. We have five sizes to offer; custom orders are available. The inner pillow is about 5 to 6 inches thick to ensure your pet does not bottom out.
What is the difference between sheepskin and sheep wool?
Sheepskin is the hide of the animal and includes the wool attached to the hide. In a sheepskin, the wool remains attached.
Sheep wool is the fibre sheared off the sheep and used to make various wool products. At Soul Comfort, we use a sheep wool fabric to manufacture most of our products.
What is sheep wool fabric?
The fabric used in our products is a combination of wool fibre (sheared off the sheep), a nylon grid and a medical grade acrylic liquid stabilizer. It is made using a process that takes the loose wool and ‘knits’ it into the nylon grid. Then, the acrylic is used to stabilize the wool in place and create a flat surface by which the fabric can be cut. This results in a material that has the look of a sheepskin, without the hide of the animal. As a result, the wool is machine washable.
Backing:100% Cotton Canvas, a muster brown color very close to the Carhart wear.
General care:
Expect a small amount of shedding when the product is new as there will be some loose fibres. You can machine air fluff (no heat) for five minutes to remove excess fibres. Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight.
Over time and with more use, wool fibres will naturally bind together creating a more ‘clumped’ look. This change in the look does not affect the performance of the wool. You will still receive all of the natural and beautiful benefits. If you prefer a fluffier look, you can brush the product with a metal brush after laundering.
With care, your wool products will last many, many years.
Washing instructions:
Machine washable on delicate setting in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C) with a wool soap containing lanolin, such as Eucalan. Air drying is recommended. You may use a dryer WITHOUT HEAT to fluff your product. Remove from dryer before it dries completely (up to 85%). The excess moisture will not be felt and will disperse into the air quickly.
Wool is anti-microbial and will not need excessive laundering. To freshen your product, air it out by hanging outside when the air is moist, out of direct sunlight. When you bring it back inside, the wool will release the moisture into the air. This moisture redistribution results in a refreshening. If there is some staining or seepage from wounds, you can spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and a disinfecting soap. Do not bleach.
Why Choose A Sheep Wool Filled Pet Bed:
A sheep wool pet bed is an excellent choice for providing comfort and support for your furry friends. Made from high-quality merino wool, these mats offer numerous benefits that make them the perfect addition to your pet's sleeping area. Explore why a sheep wool pet bed is ideal for your dog or cat.
Natural Material
Sheep wool is a natural material that offers exceptional softness and cushioning. It provides a cozy and comfortable surface for your pet to rest on, ensuring a peaceful and restful sleep. Unlike synthetic materials, sheep wool is breathable, allowing air to circulate and regulating your pet's body temperature.
Resistance to Bacteria, Mold, and Fungus
One key advantage of sheep wool pet mats is their natural resistance to bacteria, mold, and fungus. This is due to the lanolin present in the wool, which acts as a protective barrier against these common pet-related issues. Choosing a sheep wool pet bed can help keep your pet's sleeping area clean and hygienic.
Machine Washable and Dryable (dry only 85 %)Wool Loves moisture
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is essential for your pet's bedding. Sheep wool pet mats are machine washable, making them easy to clean and maintain. Toss the mat in the washing machine, follow the care instructions, and it will come out fresh and clean, ready for your pet to enjoy.
Comfort for Joint and Muscle Support
Sheep wool pet beds support your pet's joints and muscles. The wool's soft and cushioning nature, a natural WOOL color, helps alleviate pressure points, reducing the risk of discomfort or pain. This is especially beneficial for older pets or those with joint issues, providing them with a comfortable and supportive resting surface.
Perfect for Dogs and Cats
Whether you have a dog or a cat, a sheep wool pet bed suits both. The natural properties of sheep wool make it an ideal choice for pets of all sizes and breeds. Your furry friend will appreciate the luxurious comfort and warmth that a sheep wool pet mat provides.
Conclusion

From the natural softness and cushioning to the resistance to bacteria and the ease of maintenance, these mats are designed with your pet's comfort and well-being in mind. Invest in a sheep wool pet mat today and provide your furry friend with the ultimate sleeping experience.

100% Natural
Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable
Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable
Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant
On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable
Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
I bought the Extra Large Sheep Wool Pet Bed for my Blind and diabetic rescue dog. I received the bed, which looked lovely, however, the insert had so little wool fill that my dog bottomed out. He wouldn't go near it. I got in touch with the owners who asked for pictures, which I promptly sent 9there was a foot of fabric with no fill). They did send a replacement insert (which came in a box and had no covering so was dirty upon arrival and also had loose threads that were pulling), but it too had little fill. My other dog (an 18 year old POM, got on the bed and pawed it twice and two huge clumps of wool came off the topper). He ate a bit and choked before I could get to him, but he was fine. I communicated back to Anya to let her know and brought the two beds to a seamstress who was able to fix the insert issue by adding the wool fill from one to the other. I asked for a new topper and promptly threw the defective one out. The company refused to send a new one and said I would need to pay for it. I quieted, since I just want a complete bed for my ailing dog. They sent a link to buy a new one after they said I could pay for just the topper and now refuse to communicate with me despite 7 emails asking for a cost to replace the topper (that technically I don't think is fair that I have to pay for), but will do so to get a complete bed. They have yet to respond. BUYER BEWARE!
Haven't used the new pet bed quite yet as we haven't even received our new puppy, but once it is all trained up, we will be happy to try it out! I hope it lasts a long time. It looks nice and comfortable with no synthetic nasty smells when I opened it up. It does shed some being new, but that is to be expected I'm sure. Thank you for the prompt service and shipping. Very accommodating business. Cheers!
Its absolutely perfect a soft healthy bed for my beautiful dog.
This is a really well made and nice quality product. Our dog really like to curl up on this comfy bed. I am getting a second piece, a wool mat for another corner. I am very happy with this product
Muffin is enjoying it, but we had to take the stuffing out as it was too thick.
