Wool around the World

by Simon Brazier on March 24, 2022

When you think of wool, your mind probably goes straight to clothing! But did you know that wool is used in many industries around the world? Let’s look at a few of them today.

The Bedroom

Opting for wool bedding is a great way to regulate your body temperature while you sleep. This enables you to sleep longer and better. Wool breathes naturally, absorbs moisture from the air, and releases it when the environment is dry. Wool keeps you cool when it's hot and warm when it's not.

The Home

We have long used insulation to keep buildings warm. The formulation of a barrier from the outside with wool helps keep homes energy efficient. Just as sheep use their wool to protect themselves from harsh elements, our homes and families can use the same insulated benefit. Wool has a thermal barrier from the millions of tiny air pockets that make up it.

Wool not only provides insulation from the cold, but also doubles to insulate sound! Wool insulation is found in schools and offices to reduce noise levels.

Clothing

Of course, one of the most well-known uses of wool is clothing. People have been using wool to protect and keep us warm for a long time. Wool is robust and resistant to damage. Wool has an elasticity that makes it work to the shape of the body without sagging.

Creation

It doesn't matter where you live, you'll find wool craft fanatics, whether knitting, crochet or felt. Crafting is an incredible way to introduce wool to children.

Wool is also renewable, biodegradable and sustainable, which makes it an environmentally friendly alternative.
