Sheep Wool Amputee Stump Protector is made from moisture-absorbent wool that can retain body heat and keep muscles warm all day and night. It also releases 30-40% of its weight in moisture into the air, preventing dampness and protecting the skin against breakdown and bacteria growth. The added warmth can effectively reduce the "phantom" sensation and pain experienced by amputees. Our protectors are also antimicrobial and antibacterial, offering both comfort and customization with elastic and Velcro closures.
We have a variety of Stump Protectors (measure around the base of stump to size):
- Arm/Ankle Small (base of the stump ranges from 8.5”-10.5") and 5" deep
- Blow Knee Medium (base of the stump ranges from 12.5”-15.5”) and 6" deep
- Below/Above Knee Large (base of the stump ranges from 18.5”-23.5”) and 6" deep
- Above Knee XL (base of the stump ranges from 21.5”-28.5”) and 10" deep
CARE:
* Machine wash up to 70°C on wool or gentle cycle
* Tumble dry to 85%, then hang to dry or dry in the machine on low temp
* Do not bleach
* Velcro adjustment
* Some natural de-fleecing may occur. If desired, place in dryer and tumble without heat before use.
Our Merino sheep's wool products are ideal for those with limited mobility. Made with 1" pile health density, these items are washable up to 70 degrees Celsius and meet Canadian infection control requirements.
