Do you or a loved one suffer from asthma, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, eczema or bed sores. Wool can help in the relief of these and numerous other physical conditions. The natural healing properties of wool fibre are proven. Wool is extremely successful in healing and prevention and offers real relief for the many medical conditions and ailments caused by injury, illness and the stresses of everyday living.
Wool fibre is primarily keratin, a protein that is present in our own skin and hair. This means that it is safe if trapped in sores or wounds. It works in harmony with our own bodies and will simply detach harmlessly along with a scab at the end of the healing process.

WOOL... for whatever Ails YOU:
Asthma
Dust mites are a common problem for people who have asthma. In order for dust mites to survive and thrive they need moisture and humidity. It is a proven fact that dust mites DO NOT like sheep wool because wool spreads out the moisture and dries very quickly making it an unfriendly environment for dust mites to live or breed.
High Blood Pressure
Sleep deficiency and other situational, environmental or emotional circumstances can cause stress. Prolonged stress can cause an increase in blood pressure. Studies have shown that sleeping in sheep wool reduces the heart rate as the wool naturally insulates and keeps the body at a comfortable 98.6°F. By eliminating the need for your body to work so hard in maintaining a normal temperature, our sheep wool will provide a more restful and natural sleep.
Menopause
Since wool keeps the body at a consistent temperature of 98.6°F it helps to counter hot flashes due to menopause. Wool bedding will help you get a great night’s sleep by countering those nasty hot flashes. Wools ability to wick away moisture will also help to keep you warm, dry and comfortable – waking rested.
Frailty (due to aging or sickness)
The elder are often cold, and greatly benefit from the added warmth and cushioning wool provides. Wool is a natural insulator and wicks the moisture away from the body, leaving its wearer dry and warm. Wool also works to relieve pressure, helping to reduce skin separation or tearing. When the skin stays dry, the skin stays strong.
Cancer/Chemotherapy Patients
Many cancer patients receiving chemotherapy find themselves getting cold and have a hard time warming up. If this describes you, rest easy. Yes, that’s right, lay back and relax. Whether awake or asleep, wool is going to keep you consistently warm without overheating.
Wool can also help alleviate some of the cancer-related fatigue by keeping the body at a consistent temperature of 98.6°F. Wool adds comfort, necessary pressure relief and healing to aching bodies, especially after treatment.
Diabetics
Sleep is imperative for those with diabetes and it is often overlooked as a support aid. Wool helps maintain a normal body temperature of 98.6°F which can improve circulation and provide a more restful sleep. This allows the body time to heal, correct chemical imbalances and normalize blood sugar levels (insulin support maybe necessary for some diabetics).
Because wool breathes and can hold 30-40% of its weight in moisture, it helps prevent the ability of bacteria to grow and thrive and helps promote the healing of those who are experiencing sores due to this condition.
Pressure Points/Bed Sores/Decubitus Ulcers
Since wool can wick away moisture, it can also can maintain an even body temperature of 98.6°F. Wool can also bend 20,000 times before breaking, therefore offering a protective cushion beneath the body. It helps remove a lot of the factors that allow sores and ulcers to come into play, e.g. friction, humidity, temperature, unrelieved pressure.
Three primary causes of skin breakdown are moisture, pressure and chaffing. Wool is the answer to all three. Once upon a time, sheepskin was used in hospitals to prevent bedsores from developing. Due to cost-cutting they were replaced – in some cases – with synthetic polyester fleece which contributes to skin breakdown. A return to wool is necessary to alleviate needless suffering.
Amputation
Wool provides warmth, helping to relieve the ache in the stump. The body heat maintained through wool helps relieve the ‘phantom feeling’. Wool is a live material that helps ‘fill the gap’.
Swelling
Wool maintains body heat, promoting circulation and relieving the swelling pressure.
Eczema
Wool absorbs moisture, helping to keep skin dry, preventing bacterial growth.
Wool to the RESCUE!
Natural Healing with WOOL
A wool fibre is a complex structure. It is
predominantly made of keratin, a protein that is
present in our own skin and hair. If you suffer
from an ailment or illness that creates open sores
on your body, please don’t be concerned about
sleeping with or on wool. Should any of the wool
fibers come loose or fall out don’t be alarmed
because wool works in total harmony with your
body's own protection mechanisms. When the
sore heals and closes over, should some fibers get
trapped in or around the wound, they will simply
become part of scab and disappear when the scab
falls off. |
